When did you do your volunteering project at Fekete Sereg and how long?
I started my 6 months long project on 01.07.2021
What was your motivation to do the project/Why did you decide to be a volunteer (in Hungary)?:
I was working as an office clerk before, but I was unhappy with my job, that is why I decided to change something in my life. And as I love working with kids and I didn’t know anything about the neighbourcountry of Austria, I decided for Hungary/Fekete Sereg.
What was your project? What was a regular day like?
The main part of the project is the work in the kindergarten of Nagyvázsony and 2 times per week also in the youthcenter. My day starts at 08:00 a.m. with working in the kindergarten until 12:00 p.m. Afterwards at least 2 per week I go to the youthcenter from 14:00 p.m. until the closing at 19:30 p.m. I also use the time at the youthcenter to create content for the Instagram page of Fekete Sereg.
Which is your favourite memory of the time you spent here?
I will definitely miss the kindergartenkids, because they are just adorable and very lovely. Also the Nenis in the kindergarten show so much kindness towards. I really appreciate all that and I am very thankful that I was able to spent my project in the kindergarten.
A funny memory you’d like to share?
In the summer we prepaired a treasure hunt for a group of short term volunteers and we overslept in the morning, but we still had to finish some tasks. So we sat all together outside on the floor of our terrace and painted paper flags of different countries.
What do/did you like the most about Nagyvázsony?
The village itself is very cozy and the people are very friendly. My Hungarian is still not the best, but they always try to help and they are very understandable.
How was the life in the flat?
All in all over the past 6 months I lived with 5 different people in the flat. With some of them it was a very friendly and kind atmosphere from the very beginning and with some it was very hard to connect. Which may come from different point of views on how living together should be/work.
